Meet Godwin

I’ve been guiding safaris in Uganda for twenty years now. I grew up in the Kabale region, and these forests and parks have always been my home. After spending two decades working for other companies, I decided to start Gateway Bliss Safaris: my own operation, run my way.
I keep things personal and small. I work with a team of guides I trust, and we run several vehicles, but the goal is always the same: give you a real experience, not just a tick-box tour. I speak good English, I know these landscapes inside out, and I’ll do everything I can to make sure you have the best time possible.
I’m especially fond of the gorillas. I’ve seen them hundreds of times, and I never get tired of it. I love sharing that passion with guests, showing you not just where they are, but who they are.
I’m also committed to protecting these animals. I work with local gorilla conservation charities and anti-poaching initiatives across the parks. When you book with me, you’re helping keep these places and these animals safe.
Let’s get you out here. I’m excited to show you Uganda.
Partnered Charities
A portion of every booking goes toward the people and organizations working to protect Uganda’s parks and communities.
Rubuguri Reformed Poachers Association
Based on the edge of Rubuguri Forest near Bwindi, this group works with the Uganda Wildlife Authority to give former poachers another way to earn a living: maintaining the thorn hedge that marks the park boundary and running small income projects instead of laying snares. More than 30 people have moved off poaching through the program so far.
Visit siteBatwa Organisation
Supports Batwa communities around Bwindi and across Uganda with school fees, healthcare, and land resettlement, alongside a cultural center that keeps Batwa traditions visible. It is community-led: local Batwa leaders decide each month how funds are used.
Visit siteThe Kabale Shepherd Center
A home in Kabale for boys who have been living on the street, offering shelter, schooling, and counseling while working toward reuniting them with their families. The center also runs regular outreach to boys still on the streets, with a meal and someone to talk to.
